About Regents' Professors

The designation of Regents' Professor is the highest of faculty ranks and is reserved for full professors with exceptional achievements that have brought them national or international recognition. Regents' Professors are expected to exemplify the highest objectives and standards of the University through their scholarship, research or creative activities, and teaching. These appointments, approved by the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR), are limited to three percent (3%) of the tenured and tenure-track faculty members, and carry a modest salary increase.

Nominations are accepted annually and nominees remain in the candidate pool for three years. The Regents’ Professor Advisory Committee reviews and recommendations are provided to the President. The President submits her selection(s) for approval to the Arizona Board of Regents. Once approved, the Nominating Chairs are notified of the selections. New Regents’ Professors are honored at a ceremony when the Board of Regents is available to conduct a Regents’ Professor Induction Ceremony. The full list of Regents' Professors can be found on the University's Awards and Honors page.
